Getting to know Ian Tighe Ian Tighe spent 33 years in the public sector engaging in bringing change through the effective development & deployment of IS/IT/IM systems throughout this period; often in the most challenging of circumstances. The teams he has led have received some of the highest accolades - Lauded by the Science and Technology Committee of the House of Lords (UK Parliament), praised by the Health Committee of the House of Commons (UK Parliament) for leading the technological and performance recovery of the London Ambulance Service , winners of the British Computer Society's Information Systems Management Excellence Award and an international award from Computerworld for Innovation in Mobile and Wireless systems being the highpoints for him and his teams. With experience as Head of Computing at a metropolitan county council Transportation, Highways and Engineering Dept and with over 8 years experience as Head of IT/IS with a metropolitan police force his experience inevitably extends beyond his specialist areas of IS/IT/IM. He has, as a Board member of a public body for some eleven years, had in depth experience of organisational management, financial management, target setting and performance measurement, strategic planning, risk management, crisis planning and more. This, when combined with directing functional units such as Fleet Operations, Estates Development/Maintenance and being Board Secretary embracing responsibility for Corporate Governance, provides him with sound and substantial experience at the highest levels. He was the inspiration and one of the founding members of London's Critical Infrastructure Group - a group of essential public services and service providers chaired by Government Office for London that would keep London going in the event of a major catastrophe or incident. His view and ethos in respect of resilience in the face of 21st Century challenges to London, its people and its infrastructure are now the mantra of all emergency services especially in London. Ian Tighe is an invited Fellow of the British Computer Society (BCS) and Chartered Information Technology Professional. He has played an active role with the BCS as a quality assessor for three years and has been a Member of the British Computer Society Safety Critical Systems Task Force, a Member of the British Computer Society Legal Affairs Committee , a Member of the Computer Based Evidence Task Group and a Member of the Contract and Procurement Task Group. Ian Tighe is also a Member of ELITE (Effective Leadership in Information Technology) and was a Departmental Advisor to Brunel University. |
